Okay, I’ll admit it, I’ve got some words under my belt. I tend to use a lot of high-falutin’ language that can sometimes be difficult to read or comprehend. I’d apologize for that, except that’s just how I speak. Just ask Marie! (Kudos to her and her lack of fear; she’s always asking what this word means or that one means. I’m the type that hopes that he’ll remember a new word until he’s safely alone with his dictionary — ah, sweet dictionary.) Since part of what I’m trying to learn in this space is how to be more me I’m afraid you need to muddle through the effects of a lifetime love affair with words.

After all, I like words and I like the things that they can do. They can illuminate, illustrate and elucidate (how’s that for some pompous, pedantic wordsmith posturing?). One of the qualities that I like best about words is how well they can transform. There are times where they positively act like chameleons.

What if there was one word that chameleon-like could guide you through success in your own internet business? Allow me to introduce you to today’s word:

I’m sure it comes as no surprise to the three people reading this catalog of missteps, but I’m reconsidering a position. And, given that I’m a fumbler, I’m reconsidering the position that I worked so hard trying to articulate earlier this week.

And so I ask myself (and you, if you’re amenable) maybe the practice that I’m supposed to be doing is one of learning by doing?

Here’s why I’m waffling: Much of this week, while researching another post I’ve been working on, I’ve been going through online internet business instruction sites. It didn’t seem to matter what I was supposed to be looking for, three little words stuck out over and over, on all sorts of places:

I’m studying my butt off and I like to think that I’m doing the things that lead to realizing and online income. But I’m new at this thing, and who knows?

I do know something though, I know that I’m struggling. I’m struggling with knowing whether or not I’m making the right moves. I’m struggling with the million tiny little steps that seem to constitute “doing it right.” Most of all, I’m struggling with the emotion of feeling overwhelmed and a failure before I’ve even really begun.

I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Bees and Time, or Let’s Pollinate Them All

My car’s in the shop today, and because I’m working full-time to make this whole internet business thing work, I’m able to continue working here while waiting at the auto repair shop. It’s a heady freedom after the last 20 years of requesting time to be able to take care of the little necessaries that inconveniently must be done during “business hours.”

Here at the beginning stage of my fumbling around business, the guidance and the advice is all about vision. It’s about passion and taking what you’re most into and turning it into a community and brand, and from there leveraging that brand.

That’s great for the obsessives among us, but how do you make that work when you’re a polyglot? How do you turn many attentions, many passions, into something that is “your obsessive passion.”

Fumbling about, I have to say, at this point I don’t have a clue.
